Undergraduate degrees
Accounting and finance degree courses
Whilst our accounting degrees will develop your knowledge on the flow of money and the laws, regulations and business standards surrounding these types of transactions, our finance courses focus more on how money can be spent within and organisation, its assets and how these assets can be best distributed. At 国产探花 our accounting and finance degrees have an emphasis on responsible business, so ethics and sustainability are embedded in both courses.
Professional body exemptions are available on both courses from the ACCA, ICAEW, CIPFA, CIMA and the AIA, depending on which course, and which modules you choose.
Economics
Economics professionals help organisations and governments to understand how best to manage limited resources to achieve their goals. There is strong demand for analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, so our economics degree will prepare you for a wide range of careers from risk management, mergers and acquisitions, consultancy and financial analysis.
Opportunities to specialise
Studying our Economics BSc(Hons) degree means that you'll have the chance to focus on a specialist subject as part of your degree from year 2 of your course, or you can carry on with your Economics degree for a broad view of the subject along with your choice of option modules. Choosing a specialist subject means that your core modules focus on the subject that you choose, and you'll graduate with that subject in your degree title.
- Economics with Data Science BSc(Hons)
- Economics with Finance BSc(Hons)
Find out more about these specialist subjects on the Economics course page.
Foundation year
We also offer an accounting, finance and economics integrated foundation year. A degree with an integrated foundation is designed for students who do not have the entry requirements needed to start a degree with us. Upon successful completion of the foundation year, you can progress to one of our BSc(Hons) courses, depending on which foundation year pathway you choose.
Postgraduate degrees
Accounting, finance and economics masters at 国产探花 are designed to help you master the strategic skills and in-depth knowledge needed for your future career in financial services and allow you to specialise in banking, investment, risk management, accounting or economics.
All students complete the same core finance modules, then from the end of the first semester you will be able to specialise in one of five areas.
If you want to add valuable work experience to your CV you can also take your masters over two years with an integrated paid work placement (September start only).
ACCA Professional Qualifications
Certified as an ACCA Gold Learning Partner, we have designed two professional qualifications to run alongside the ACCA qualifications. The Diploma in Professional Studies in Accounting follows the ACCA’s Applied Skills stage papers; on completion of this you will gain a diploma and become part-qualified. Our ACCA Accounting PGDip/Masters has been designed to run alongside the ACCA's Strategic Professional (Essential) papers and one of the ACCA option papers – enabling you to become a qualified accountant alongside your MSc Accounting.
To become fully qualified by the ACCA you will also need to complete the ACCA's Ethics and professional skills module and have three years work experience.
PhD degrees
Research and knowledge exchange at the School of Business and Law are deeply rooted in the mission to promote responsible enterprise for a fairer society. We offer a wide variety of PhDs in accounting, finance and economics subjects.
We also have research centres and groups which focus on the school’s particular strength in innovation management and entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility, and social justice as well as tourism and sustainability.
ACCA Professional Accountant Apprenticeship
This apprenticeship is aligned with the professional ACCA qualification. Over the four-year programme apprentices will develop an advanced understanding of the theory and practice of financial reporting, performance management, taxation, financial management, assurance and corporate governance, and ethics together with organisational leadership and professional skills.
