Michael Lowe and Charlotte Gill started their apprenticeships in September 2018, both working for schools sponsored by ¹ú²ú̽»¨ and Hove City Council. As well as achieving Qualified Teacher Status, they have also been awarded a Postgraduate Certificate of Education from the ¹ú²ú̽»¨. Both are now working full-time in secondary schools in the area.
Michael said: “the apprenticeship really has given me the opportunity to realise a dream I've had for a long time.
“Knowing that I could still fulfil my responsibilities as a dad, and qualify as a teacher was life-changing. And achieving ‘Outstanding’ in my end-point assessment is the icing on the cake”
Charlotte, who teaches English said: "The apprenticeship has given me more experience of teaching in the classroom and the qualification I needed to carry on teaching the subject that I love."
These impressive grades show a strong start to the teacher apprenticeship programme, which attracted a further 15 new teacher apprentices in June 2019.
Carla Butler, Apprenticeship Programme Manager from ¹ú²ú̽»¨ and Hove City Council congratulated the apprentices and said: “The South East are very lucky to have such a forwarding thinking university.”
The university’s teacher apprenticeship programme is now recruiting for 2020.
