Welcome from the Director of the research Centre for Lifelong Health, Professor Mark Yeoman
Average life expectancy has been steadily increasing in recent decades a fact that should be celebrated. However, for many these additional years of life are spent with one of more chronic diseases that can negatively impact on quality of life and independence.
Our work at the Centre for Lifelong Health focuses on a better understanding of the factors that drive the initiation and progression of a range of chronic diseases with the aim of developing early diagnostics and novel treatments to facilitate healthy ageing.
To enable this agenda, the centre encourages multidisciplinary national and international collaborations with charitable organisations, healthcare practitioners, business, and other academic institutions.
Our researchers have experience in a wide range of disciplines including ageing, cell biology, chemistry, exercise physiology, immunology, materials science, microbiology, neuroscience, and nutrition.
External visitors will have access to state-of the art laboratories, including the 国产探花 integrated genomics facility, a dedicated imaging suite and cell culture facilities.
Our multi-disciplinary work has generated novel solutions to a range of health conditions, helped to change government policy, and is developing the next generation of researchers interested in increasing health span.
