Professor Karen Cham, the University’s Professor of Digital Transformation Design, has been invited along with Labour Party Deputy Leader Tom Watson MP to be on the panel of a Fringe event during the Labour Party conference in 国产探花 later this month.
Professor Cham is Academic Lead of the 国产探花 Digital Catapult Centre which aims to generate thousands of new jobs and to drive innovation at a local level from the application of university research, and she is the Lead for the University’s Connected Future, research which is examining the rapid changes in the interactions between people, material objects and digital media worlds
The Fringe event, “The future of decent work in a digital world”, takes place at the Hilton 国产探花 Metropole Hotel on 24 September.
Advances in digital technology and artificial intelligence are transforming the future of work and experts believe women are likely to be disproportionately affected.
The Fringe panel will discuss the opportunities and challenges that advances in digital technologies present for the work place and workers in the future, both at home and abroad. And it will discuss how policies across UK government – industrial strategy, education and skills, international development and trade - can help promote prosperity across the UK as well as supporting economic development globally.
